Cathal – INVERIN

During last year we spoke over the phone very often. We discussed the written work, comprehension and the tape. It was very effective through the phone because I could understand the pronunciation clearly. I was able to call anytime if I wanted help or if I wanted something corrected. It was very easy to communicate and I would strongly recommend it.

During the time I spent with you, I learnt so many new things that helped me with my French exam.
Firstly we went through all the tenses. You explained them so well and I understood them instantly. Before I got help from you I had trouble with some of the tenses especially the past tense. You sent me pages of all of the tenses and you had a diagram on the past tense showing which verbs took etre. I found it very helpful!
Then we went through the comprehensions. You had some very useful techniques when attempting the comprehensions. Before I was supposed to read the questions, then read the title and then go through each paragraph one by one.
After that, we started doing the written work like the letter and postcard. You went through the structure of the letter and postcard with me. You also gave me very useful phrases for my letter which were very helpful in the exam.
As we spoke on the phone, I was learning how to pronounce certain words in French and this will help me in my oral exam for my leaving cert. I had difficulty with the aural but after listening to you on the phone I was used to listening to the French people talking and the way they pronounced words.
I thought the website was very good. It was simple and easy to understand. I was able to find things very quickly on it.

Bravo, Anne for coming up with a teacher-friendly set of resources. You have provided that much-needed authentic French link to the vast amount of material “out there”.

The Oral practice test sessions with the students last year were a great success. We have booked the same experience for our students in 2011. Each student was listened to, evaluated carefully, and valuable comments were included. This gave them confidence and practical support for the Oral examination.

I studied conversational French with Anne Kerrien for 6 weeks in Autumn 2011.  I found her to be an inspirational teacher, and she was patient and fun to learn with.  Anne was structured in her approach but also also flexible in our arrangements.  my course with her was money very well spent.  i plan to do another course in the Summer before we go to France again.
